And usually the buyer numbers are just as good as they were at the end of autumn, but they become somewhat frustrated at the lack of choice during winter, and they either buy something not ideally suited to their needs, get lucky if the right thing does come up, or else they may completely withdraw from active looking. Its a bit of a catch 22.
Consequently when Spring rolls around, there is suddenly a surge of new property listings onto the market which creates a lot of fresh, new competition and also means a lot of new fresh choice for buyers.
Taking the realities of winter out of the equation, would you sooner sell a home, when there is far fewer houses available for sale (less competition) for the buyers to choose from, and hence it makes it far easier for your home stand out from the crowd? And because there is usually far less choice for buyers, it also highlights the possibilities of achieving a premium price due to the lack of supply.
In spring, where buyers have far more choice, there is less need for buyers to be stressed over missing out or losing a house to another buyer as there is always usually another similar one just around the corner.
